Night supervision for the hours that worry families most

Most of what families fear happens between midnight and dawn. Night supervision puts a trained person in the home through those hours so no one has to sleep with one eye open.

Nights are their own problem

Daytime care plans often work well and then fall apart at night. Someone gets up disoriented at two in the morning. Someone tries to make it to the bathroom without their walker. Someone has a seizure with no one there to notice. Families cope by having a spouse or adult child sleep in shifts, which works until that person's health gives out.

Night supervision addresses the overnight window directly. ALLCARE LLC staff are present in the home through the night, monitoring, responding, and documenting, so the rest of the household can actually sleep.

Awake or asleep overnight coverage

Awake overnight means staff remain awake and alert for the entire shift. This is appropriate when someone has frequent needs overnight, wanders, has unpredictable seizures, or requires monitoring that cannot wait for someone to be woken.

Asleep overnight means staff sleep in the residence but are available to respond when needed. This suits people whose overnight needs are occasional rather than continuous.

We will be direct with you about which level the situation actually calls for. Paying for awake overnight when asleep coverage is genuinely sufficient is a waste of your resources, and the reverse is a safety problem.

Questions

About night supervision

What is the difference between night supervision and 24-hour emergency assistance?
Night supervision means staff are physically present in the home overnight. 24-hour emergency assistance is a response system, so help can be reached around the clock without someone stationed in the residence. Some people use one, some use both. See our 24-hour emergency assistance page for more.
Does the overnight staff person stay awake all night?
That depends on which level of coverage the care plan calls for. Awake overnight means continuously alert; asleep overnight means resting in the residence and available to respond. We will recommend the level that matches the actual overnight need.
What does overnight staff need from the household?
For asleep overnight, a place to sleep. For either level, working lights on the path to the bathroom, access to whatever monitoring equipment is in use, and clear written instructions about medications and what to do in specific situations.
Can night supervision be combined with daytime services?
Yes, and it often is. Many of our plans pair overnight coverage with homemaker support or individualized home supports during the day. One plan, one point of contact.
