Caregiver jobs in Minneapolis and Hennepin County
We are hiring homemakers, respite providers, overnight staff, companions, and support professionals across Hennepin County. No certification required for most roles.
Careers at ALLCARE LLC
We are proud to be a culturally diverse company and we are always looking for good people to add to our team. Here is how employment actually works here, before you get to the roles.
Positions are part-time unless stated otherwise
Nearly every role starts part-time. That is the nature of home care scheduling, and it is why many of our staff work alongside school, another job, or family responsibilities.
You can build up to 40 hours a week
Employees have the option to add additional clients to increase their weekly hours, up to 40 per week. If you want more hours, tell us and we will work toward it as matching clients come available.
You and your client build the schedule together
We do not hand you a schedule and tell you to make it work. You and the client set the weekly schedule between you, within the hours authorized in their plan.
A culturally diverse team, by design
Our staff and the people we serve across Hennepin County speak many languages and come from many communities. Second-language fluency is a genuine asset here and often increases the hours available to you.
Before you can be authorized to work
All applicants must pass a Minnesota Department of Human Services background study and complete training before being authorized to work. Both are required, without exception, and neither can be skipped or completed after your first shift.
We will walk you through both. If you have a question about something that might appear on your background study, ask us early rather than waiting for the result.
Positions we are hiring for now
All positions below are open across Hennepin County. Select a role to see what the work actually involves. Many of our staff work across more than one role.
HomemakerNow hiring
Typically 2 to 6 hour visits, weekdays. Part-time and flexible.
Keep a client's household running so they can stay in it. This is the role most often available and the most common way people start with us.
Duties may include
- ✓ Light housekeeping: sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, surface cleaning
- ✓ Kitchen work: washing dishes, wiping counters, cleaning the refrigerator
- ✓ Bathroom cleaning, with attention to fall risk around the tub and toilet
- ✓ Laundry: washing, drying, folding, and putting away
- ✓ Changing bed linens and making beds
- ✓ Meal planning and food preparation, including portioning meals for later
- ✓ Grocery lists, shopping assistance, and putting groceries away
- ✓ Taking out trash and recycling
Respite Care ProviderNow hiring
Blocks ranging from a few hours to several consecutive days. Weekends common.
Cover a scheduled block so a family caregiver can rest. You follow the routines the family has already established rather than inventing your own.
Duties may include
- ✓ Supervision and companionship for the full scheduled block
- ✓ Assistance with meals, snacks, and hydration
- ✓ Support with mobility, transfers, and toileting per the care plan
- ✓ Medication reminders as written in the plan
- ✓ Following the established daily routine, including sleep and activity timing
- ✓ Writing a handoff note covering how the shift went
Overnight Support StaffNow hiring
Overnight shifts, generally 8 to 12 hours. Awake and asleep positions both available.
Work the hours families worry about most. Both awake overnight and asleep overnight positions are available depending on the client's plan.
Duties may include
- ✓ Safety checks at the intervals set in the care plan
- ✓ Responding to calls, alarms, bed sensors, or monitors
- ✓ Assistance with overnight toileting and repositioning
- ✓ Redirecting and reassuring a client who wakes disoriented
- ✓ Supporting the evening wind-down and the morning start
- ✓ Documenting overnight events for the family and care team
Adult CompanionNow hiring
Usually 2 to 3 visits a week, a few hours each. Daytime.
Spend time with someone who is spending too much of it alone. Consistency matters more in this role than any other, so we look for people who can commit to a steady schedule.
Duties may include
- ✓ Conversation, visiting, and shared activities like cards, puzzles, or reading
- ✓ Accompanying clients to medical appointments and taking notes for the family
- ✓ Help with errands: pharmacy, bank, post office, grocery store
- ✓ Community outings: library, senior center, place of worship, park
- ✓ Support with letters, phone calls, and staying in touch with family
- ✓ Checking in on wellbeing and reporting changes to the office
Individualized Home Supports StaffNow hiring
Daily or near-daily visits. Full-time hours possible across multiple clients.
Provide the daily support that keeps someone in their own home, working from a written plan built around that specific person.
Duties may include
- ✓ Assistance with daily living activities as outlined in the plan
- ✓ Support with routines: getting up, meals, medications, winding down
- ✓ Cueing and prompting rather than doing, where that builds independence
- ✓ Help managing appointments, mail, and household logistics
- ✓ Supporting community access and errands
- ✓ Documenting progress toward the client's stated goals
Independent Living Skills InstructorNow hiring
Scheduled sessions, typically weekly or twice weekly per client.
Teach rather than do. The goal of this role is that your client needs less help next year than they do now, which means letting them do things imperfectly while they learn.
Duties may include
- ✓ Teaching cooking, meal planning, food storage, and kitchen safety
- ✓ Teaching budgeting, banking, paying bills, and tracking spending
- ✓ Building housekeeping systems and laundry routines the client runs themselves
- ✓ Coaching medication management and self-advocacy at appointments
- ✓ Teaching public transportation use and navigating the Twin Cities
- ✓ Building phone, email, and paperwork skills, including calling for help
- ✓ Working on personal safety, boundaries, and time management
- ✓ Documenting skill progress in concrete, specific terms

What we offer caregivers
We are a small agency, so we compete on how we treat staff rather than on scale.
Schedules built around your life
Tell us the hours you can actually work and we schedule inside them. We would rather give you fewer hours you can keep than more hours you will have to cancel.
Clients near where you live
We match by geography wherever we can. Driving across the county between two short visits is how caregivers burn out and quit.
Consistent client assignments
We keep you with the same clients instead of rotating you. The work is better when you actually know the person.
Someone answers the phone
If something goes wrong on a shift, you reach a real person who knows your client's plan rather than a voicemail box.
Training before you are alone
You get oriented to each client's plan before your first solo shift, including the specific things that make that household work.
Room to take on more
Staff who want more responsibility move into training roles or more complex client plans. We promote from inside first.
What you need to apply
The list is short on purpose. Most of what makes someone good at this job cannot be put on a resume.

- ✓ Legally authorized to work in the United States
- ✓ Able to pass a Minnesota background study
- ✓ Reliable transportation to client homes across Hennepin County

- ✓ Able to read, write, and follow a written care plan in English
Helpful, but not required
- ✓ Prior caregiving experience, paid or unpaid, including caring for your own family
- ✓ Fluency in a second language, particularly Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Oromo, or Amharic
- ✓ Experience supporting someone with dementia or a developmental disability
- ✓ CNA, HHA, PCA, or DSP background, though none of these are required
